Free Child Identification Program:

This program involves a revolutionary new process for safety minded parents and is available free to residents and visitors to the beach.  The program offers intangibles - security and peace of mind.  A wallet-size high-tech child identification card, which includes a digital photo of each child, digital fingerprints (no ink!), and personal and medical information are presented to the parent.  A DNA swab kit is also included.

If a child is missing, the card allows parents to get key informaion out to the public quickly.  Police can take the ID card, load the information in a computer and have the child's picture, height, weight and eye color printed out or e-mailed to other departments in a matter of seconds.

Again, the cost of the program is free!

Free Gun Locks:

Project ChildSafe, the nation's largest firearm safety education program, has begun the second phase of its nationwide campaign to promote safe and responsible gun ownership and storage. The program reminds gun owners to take steps to prevent a loaded gun from falling into the hands of a child, thereby preventing tragic accidents. The current campaign will distribute over 12 million free firearm safety kits and follows the successful Phase One distribution of 20 million firearm safety kits over the past year to all 50 states. Each firearm safety kit includes a cable-style gun lock and a firearm safety brochure.

City Watch:

More commonly known as "RUOkay" is a free program in which an automated process telephones participants that live alone to check in with them each morning.  The participant has a code to enter, indicating they are okay.  If the person does not respond, an attempt is made to reach them by telephone and, if unsuccessful, an Officer is dispatched to the location.
